The mission of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians is to enhance the quality of and be an advocate for veterinary clinical teaching, service, and research.
AAVC is an organization of veterinary clinicians who are engaged in teaching and/or research at the professional, graduate or postgraduate level. This includes faculty in clinical departments at veterinary schools and colleges and practices and institutions involved in the education of veterinarians in internships and residencies.
The American Association of Veterinary Clinicians (AAVC) was formed in 1958 to enhance the quality of veterinary instruction through:
- clinical teaching
- service
- and research
Goals of the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians:
- Enhance the quality of teaching, service, and research through the cooperative development and sharing of programs.
- Provide a forum for the exploration and creative resolution of clinical issues.
- Be an advocate for positions and perspectives that affect clinical teaching, service, and research.
- Foster lifelong career development for clinical educators.
- Call attention to accomplishments which add quality to clinical teaching, service, and research.
Current Programs of the AAVC:
- Annual resident/intern matching program
- Annual meeting of department heads and hospital directors.
- Annual meeting of membership.
- Educational programs on current topics of clinical teaching, research, and service.
- Sponsorship of two annual achievement awards for final year residents.
- Sponsorship of member awards.
- Representation in the AVMA House of Delegates.
